I have two 45 gallon aquariums setup with a variety of freshwater and saltwater fish. I also have another 45 gallon and a 120 gallon aquarium that are not setup yet.
The two 45 gallon aquariums are stacked one on top of the other with the freshwater aquarium on top. It has angels, silver dollars and an emperor pleco. The bottom aquarium is saltwater with clownfish, damsels, a coran angel, a flame angel, a coral beauty angel, a yellow tang, a red sea sailfin tang and an anemone. Both aquariums have Marineland BioWheel 60 filters. Biowheel filters work great! In addition, the freshwater has a Whisper 3 with a Triad retro kit. The saltwater aquarium also has a Skilter.
If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have stacked the two aquariums. Not only is cleaning the bottom aquarium cumbersome, but in order to get the Skilter out of the bottom aquarium, the aquariums must be set away from the wall quite a bit.
My future plans for the 120 gallon aquarium is to set it up as a saltwater fish aquarium. I currently have two Marineland Emperor 400 filters for it and four powerheads. But, I have a spare 20 gallon aquarium that I can use to make a wet/dry sump. Or, I may just buy a wet/dry sump.
My future plans for my spare 45 gallon is to turn it into a reef aquarium. This aquarium also has a wood stand that will look really nice with a little clean up. I'll probably use compact flourescent lighting for it.
